Tony Meadows

Tony Meadows served as Portfolio Manager for Private Equity at the Pennsylvania Public School Employees’ Retirement System (PSERS), one of the world’s largest state-sponsored benefit pension funds. Over a 17-year tenure, he rose from investment accounting and public markets reporting roles to the leadership of the private equity portfolio, ultimately managing over $7 billion in commitments and a net asset value of $4 billion. Tony’s responsibilities ranged from sourcing and evaluating new fund investments and co-investments to conducting rigorous due diligence and participating in numerous advisory boards for global fund relationships. He is recognized for pioneering PSERS’ first investments in Japanese and Korean private equity funds, as well as spearheading the fund’s initial commitments to female-owned private equity firms. Tony played a central role in institutionalizing the co-investment underwriting process at PSERS, resulting in more than 35 co-investment commitments totaling over $800 million and driving strategic diversification across geographies, strategies, and sectors. His work established new standards for diligence, ethical partnership, and innovation in large-scale LP investing. In addition to his private equity expertise, Tony previously directed investment accounting and financial management at PSERS, overseeing general ledger activities, compliance, and pension plan financial forecasting. He holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation, is a Certified Public Accountant, and is known throughout the institutional investing community for his integrity, consistent results, and depth of insight into risk management and portfolio construction. Tony resides in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, with his family and their Labrador Retrievers.
