Richard Schnuerer

Richard leads the finance and executive CFO functions for YXS Capital, overseeing capital management, financial planning, and the fund-level reporting that scales alongside the firm’s investment strategy. With nearly two decades of experience across the "three legs" of the private markets stool—GP, LP, and professional services—Richard provides the institutional financial stewardship necessary for a high-growth investment platform. As the founder of Starrlight Advisory, he manages a team of ten professionals who serve as the financial backbone for alternative investment firms. Richard’s track record is defined by significant quantitative depth and diverse fund mandates. He has been an integral part of numerous fund formations and capital-raising initiatives, with representative GP experience including serving as CFO & CCO of Courage Capital and Savant Growth, as well as Head of Finance/Operations and CCO for GroundForce Capital. His oversight has supported fund complexes such as Courage Music Partners III ($505M) and GroundForce Capital Fund III ($330M), spanning Private Equity, Growth Equity, Private Credit, Venture Capital, and SBIC funds. Prior to his leadership roles at GPs, Richard operated as an institutional LP within the Chief Investment Office at Merrill Lynch. During his tenure, he conducted exhaustive business and operational due diligence on over 60 General Partners and 100+ alternative investment funds, covering $15B in private wealth client capital. Richard began his career in professional services at Deloitte and KPMG in their audit and advisory businesses in New York and London. A licensed CPA (Ohio and New York), he holds a degree from The Ohio State University with a double major in Accounting and Finance. At YXS Capital, Richard focuses on optimizing the firm’s financial performance and ensuring its treasury and reporting functions meet the highest institutional standards.
